Bartmania went so far that in February 1991 a cartoon boy had the number one single in Britain and Ireland. Do the Bartman. An actual chart-topper, sung by a ten-year-old who does not exist. That is the world this piece came out of. Harry James Design made him in glazed ceramic rather than plastic, arms folded, purple mask and cape, stamped 1991 on the foot.
